Eco Terrorist
Typography
2020
Type is all around us, there is no avoiding it. In a capital city like London, its presence contributes to the ambient 'noise' of the city streets. It can be loud and obnoxious, friendly and inviting, distracting and abrasive, trustworthy and serious, informative and directive, abrupt and sharp or completely conspicuous and out of place. It is a powerful entity and, as Graphic Designers, we need to understand its impact and respect it. We need to have fun with it and ultimately have confidence in it. So, this is exactly what I did.
We were briefed to design and create a bespoke typeface that is inspired by a particular location in London. I created 'Eco Terrorist' inspired by the shops, location, fashion, and influences of Covent Garden and a little bit from Glossier's London pop-up store. One of my favourite places in London. The flowers and plants were collected from London and pressed into old books over the weekend before arranging, photographing, and editing them.
